Fire Feature Care

  • Read the owner’s manual. It may seem obvious but even if the feature was professionally installed, you will need to know how to operate and maintain it.

  • Be aware of your surroundings. Meant only for outdoor use,  Brass Burners require plenty of ventilation. Your fire feature should be at least three feet away from any combustible materials or structures and have a clearance of at least ten feet above it. Remove any flammable items from nearby and do not position your fire feature under a low structure or tree.

  • Never use accelerants such as gasoline, lighter fluid, or alcohol. This will damage your fire feature and could cause bodily harm.

  • Choose proper media for your fire feature. Not all media is created equal – make sure it  is rated for gas fire pit burners before adding it to your fire feature. Approved media should not retain moisture.

  • Cover it! Covering your fire feature when not in use prevents water, dirt, and debris from collecting inside the burner as well as unnecessary wear and tear from all sorts of weather. Allow the fire feature to cool completely before covering it.

  • If there is standing water in your fire feature or the media is wet, drain the water out and let dry completely before using again.

  • Regularly inspect the burner, gas lines, connections, hoses, and fittings to make sure they are tight, secure, and clean. Regularly inspect vent openings. Dirt and buildup can block the flow of gas.

  • Have a licensed professional inspect the burner, connections, and particularly the gas supply once a year.

  • Don’t burn, melt or cook anything over your fire feature. Melted materials can be difficult to remove and cause damage. Burning solid materials like leaves, sticks, or trash will damage the fire feature and can lead to an uncontrollable fire.

  • Keep a fire extinguisher or water nearby and never leave your fire feature unattended while burning.

With just a little bit of regular maintenance, you’ll be able to spend more time enjoying your fire feature and less time worrying about upkeep!
